Valley Forge Cross Country Season Preview
As the fall season kicks off, the Valley Forge High School Cross Country team is set for an exciting and competitive year. With a strong mix of returning veterans and promising newcomers, the team is ready to hit the ground running, literally and figuratively.
Men's Team
This year's team is led by experienced seniors like Donovan Moriarty and Daniel Sanabria. These seniors bring leadership and consistency to the squad. Their experience will be crucial in guiding the younger athletes and setting the pace for the season. Junior Patrick Lloyd and Kristian Pekurar are standout juniors who had successful seasons last year. Known for their hard work and endurance, they have been training hard over the summer and are expected to be top contenders on the team. Sophomores Aaron Demarest and Mickey Moriarty are also expected to make significant contributions, with both following in their brother's footsteps to be key team members. Incoming Freshman Alex Bolanos and Sophomore Sofian Attab have already shown great potential in early practices and could be key contributors to individual races and team scoring with breakout seasons.
Women's Team
On the girls' side, Junior Jay Jones and Miley Stemm lead a promising group. Both athletes have shown steady improvement and are expected to perform well throughout the season. Incoming Freshmen Emilie Kresila and Yessi Casillas bring fresh energy to the team, while new Senior Lidiia Reviakina adds depth and experience to the roster.
Team Goals
The primary goal for the Valley Forge Cross Country team this season is to build on last year's successes and aim for a better conference finish. With a focus on teamwork, endurance, and strategic racing, the team is also setting its sights on qualifying for the state meet, a goal that is well within reach, given the depth and talent on the roster. Coach Taylor is optimistic about the season, noting the team's hard work and camaraderie. "This group has the potential to achieve great things this year," Coach Hronek said. "Our focus will be on consistent improvement, supporting each other, and peaking at the right time as we approach the big meets."
The season's highlights will include the new CWC Conference meet, where the team hopes to make a strong statement, as well as the District Meet, which will be a critical test for the runners as they aim to qualify to further their XC season.
