Mykel Robinson
Valley Forge High School, forward Mykel Robinson stands out for far more than his spot in the lineup. He’s the player who sprints back on defense when others slow down, the teammate who daps up everyone after practice, and the student who’s just as locked in during chemistry class as he is in the paint. Recently named Valley Forge’s December 2025 Scholar of the Month, Robinson is proving that his leadership stretches from the hardwood to the hallways.
As a varsity forward for the Patriots men’s basketball team, Robinson embraces the role of doing a little bit of everything. On the road at places like Cuyahoga Heights, Rocky River and Normandy, he battles for rebounds, sets hard screens, and takes on tough defensive assignments so that his teammates can shine. Coaches know that when they ask for energy plays or needed stops, Robinson is the one who quietly nods, checks in, and gets the job done. His game isn’t about show—it’s about substance, effort and consistency.
That same approach shows up in the classroom. Being honored as the December 2025 Scholar of the Month at Valley Forge is no small feat, especially in the middle of a demanding winter schedule. While the Patriots grind through conference contests and late-night bus rides, Robinson is balancing practices and games with studying, projects and exams. Teammates see him reviewing notes on the way to matchups at places like North and Bay, proving that academic excellence and athletic commitment can go hand in hand.
Savannah Yorko
What makes Savannah Yorko stand out isn’t just that she’s the anchor of the Valley Forge High School Women’s Wrestling team—it’s that she pairs that power with discipline in the classroom and genuine care for her teammates. As a December 2025 Scholar of the Month, Savannah proves every day that excellence isn’t limited to the mat. She represents the kind of student-athlete who sets the tone for an entire program, showing younger wrestlers what it means to commit fully to both academics and athletics.
In a sport built on grit, Savannah has embraced one of the most demanding roles on the team. She often faces opponents who are strong, seasoned, and fearless. Yet, match after match, she brings a steady, composed presence to the circle. Her teammates know that when Savannah’s name is called, they can count on her to battle for every point, every escape, and every takedown. That consistency has helped shape the competitive identity of the Patriots Women’s Wrestling program.
Savannah’s recognition as December 2025 Scholar of the Month adds another impressive layer to her story. Balancing the intense time demands of a varsity wrestling schedule with high-level academic performance is no small feat. It means late nights studying after long practices, careful time management, and a willingness to push through fatigue when assignments stack up. Teachers see her as a student who participates, prepares, and leads by example in the classroom, just as coaches and teammates see her doing in the wrestling room.
