Valley Forge High School Patriots are marching into the 2025 football season under the guidance of Head Coach Matt Laheta, who is entering his 3rd year having maintained an 8-13 career record. With a mixed run last season that ended with a 4-6 record, the Patriots clinched a significant victory against arch-rival Normandy for the second consecutive year in the 'Battle of Parma.'
The Patriots have bid farewell to standout players Cam Wadsworth and Ethan Anthony upon their graduation but look forward to the return of influential players including L. Schillinger, who completed last season with 303 passing yards and 3 touchdowns. E. Tappe, another returning star, showcased his dual-threat capabilities with 235 receiving yards and impressive defensive stats of 50 tackles and 2 interceptions. The team also leans on the punting skills of S. Frank, who averaged 26.71 yards across 14 punts. Adding depth to the roster are Daymon Watts, Jeromy Kegor, Aidan and Ethan Mays, and Owen Bauman, all expected to contribute significantly on both ends of the field.
The upcoming season at Byers Field introduces challenges and opportunities with new opponents like North Royalton in Week 1 and Revere in Week 3, alongside a crucial Week 10 faceoff against Normandy. Coach Laheta expressed optimism about the senior class’s potential impact, emphasizing the importance of minimizing mistakes to reinforce the Patriots' position as a formidable team this season. This strategic approach points towards a pivotal season for Valley Forge High School, aiming to transcend their previous performances and vie for top honours.
